This song was inspired by Husker Du's Candy Apple Grey album and writen in 1987. By the time we recorded this version I had al kinds of rococo arrangement ideas for it, and the rawness of the original conception went completely out the window. Subsequent versions have restored the rawness. so I now feel free to get a kick out of this odd rendition. A portion of this version's intro was grafted onto the front of the "hat." version, and some of Marty's effects guitars (from the section before the freedom to make mistakes) were flown in from this recording as well.
