about

I had a dream that I was onstage with Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, and at one point everyone onstage was sitting on the floor, except for one of their roadies (whose body I was now occupying). I, as the roadie, played this whole song while facing away from the audience. As soon as the dream was finished, I got out of bed in the middle of the night and played the guitar part into my phone, and later in the day made the basic track for this recording. Me on all vocals and instruments, again. It sounds nothing like CSNY, by the way.

lyrics

Take note
Of a homesick drunken sailor
On the road to a sunken trailer
He’s walking in time

Sidling down the right side
Calamity has befallen
A botanist who has missed her calling
And this is a crime

“At the end of my life
When I’m running too short of hours
I’ll hide away and miss the flowers
And no one’ll know”

“Basically my mind’s made
A life-long vow to stay low
Been so long since I owned a halo
In this reality show”

Shall they meet?
Will they meet?
Or are they moving on, on both sides of the street?

Opposite sides of the road
With a code they cannot unravel
And a lifetime left to travel
Before it’s resolved

Comin’ out the fog,
It’s a dog ‘bout to roam right into traffic
On the road things can get graphic
But now she’s involved

Running to the pup,
Pick it up,
And she hauls that hound to safety
While he walks on down to 8th Street
And we pull back and dissolve

Shall they meet?
Will they meet?
Or are they moving on, on both sides of the street?
